Computers can be a blessing when they are working properly, but a real nightmare when they are not functioning properly. To help save yourself some heartache, I recommend several simple steps to help keep your computer running smoothly.

Add/Remove Programs – Located within your computers Control Panel, this tool is a must for anyone wanting to uninstall programs that are not used, are unwanted, or are just taking up space. You will want to be careful when removing programs, as once the process is started you cannot simply undo the change.
Disk Cleanup – Located on your main menu under Programs, Accessories, System Tools, this tool will allow you to remove temporary files on your pc that are taking up space. One really neat feature of this tool is file compression for older data files, which will help give you more space to store additional data on your hard drive.
Disk Defragmenter – Also located in the System Tools folder of your main menu, this tool will take a while to run, but is very simple to do. You do not have to sit at the machine while running, and you will be notified when the process is finished. The tool will move your unused space and used sectors of your hard drive to make your fragmented hard drive run smoother and faster.
